It's all about HER

In this blog we write about musicians who were found by ourselves. And, perhaps, this is the first time when the fate pushed us with a band that made us forget about everything literally in 25 minutes of their live. I think we would not have decided to write about them before, but since we were lucky enough to see them and feel the atmosphere, we will try to immerse you in the radiant gloom of Her.

Her is a musical male duo from northwest France. Victor Solf and Simon Carpentier, who before the creation of Her sought themselves in Germany and the United States, unlike many musicians even had an education at the Conservatory (Victor - keys, Simon - saxophone, subsequently bass). Having met at school and joined efforts to realize their dreams, in 2007 they created the band The Popopopops, which was quite a successful project in France for 6 years. In his love for R'n'B and Soul, Victor and Simon were not scared to twist it all up with Hip-Hop and Jazz, adding the necessary sensuality.

When The Popopopops sank, Victor and Simon, fueled by unconditional friendship and a passion for Western musical influence, created the duet Her

inviting talented musicians to their aid. Each trifle in this band is carefully verified: starting with the name, covers and style on the stage, ending with the mystery and concealment of their personalities at the very beginning of the formation of the young band. Behind the name of the band is a large popular social philosophy - the presentation of a Woman with a capital letter, in fact, the veneration of a Woman as an ancient deity, which can be reborn and resurrected, shining in any of its hypostases. Her is all about her, whoever she was.

Very organically, the idea of ​​feminism and equality of women, the struggle for the modern world was imbued with the philosophy of the band. Her became representatives of France in the international project "HeForShe" (the solidarity movement for gender equality created by the organization "UN-Women"). Even if this topic is not close to you, and you do not want to have anything in common with the empire of feminism, after all, it's about music. And maybe it's the music that is the most mysterious Woman, Muse, which inspires and transforms the meaning of the band into a loud ode to emotions. Their debut single, "Quite Like", Her was released digitally on Soundcloud in the spring of 2015, becoming a pleasant surprise not only for future fans, but also for producers. With a restrained rhythm, a deep bass guitar and soft keyed overflows, this song has prepared for you a surprise in the form of a rather erotic text. The whole track is completely, like a half-naked girl behind a lace curtain - excites the imagination and beckons with the prospect of continuing. The song was marked by The Weeknd and Scott Vener, which is quite unexpected for indie novices. After a couple of months, with the release of the video for the first single, Her reinforced their image of reserved gentlemen who appreciate women's sensuality. The second single only strengthened the band in the position of the most interesting debutants of the year. In the first autumn days 2015 the world saw the track "Five Minutes". His lounge sound is memorized thanks to the clattering percussion and incredible duet of male voices, which seem to sound in a ritual dance. The variety of sounds in this single is like a stroboscope in a disco in the 90's, where you really want to have time to see every detail. This track was noticed in the Apple company, having realized in its commercial. Perhaps, the best PR that the band could only get at the beginning of its journey.

It's time to visualize the group's overall concept when, in the middle of autumn, Her announced the first dates of their shows, among which were London, Kahn, Nantes and of course Rennes, hometown for musicians. In their image appeared costumes of noble shades, shirts with logos on their sleeves and thoughtful photo sessions, in which the view is literally drowning. The band has established itself as true French with impeccable English, broad smiles and sincere lyrics, polished with velvet melodies with sharp edges. This rather gently led them to release the debut EP - "Tape # 1", which appeared on vinyl in late autumn, and in digital format only in early January 2016. And this is another feature of the band, while young performers try to avoid Physical carriers, Her with the grace of kings decided immediately on vinyl records. This EP included 6 songs, in addition to the familiar "Quite Like" and "Five Minutes", in the list is "Intro" and "Interlude", in the best traditions of classical works. Also on the record there shines an amazing "Her", which maddens the seriousness of the melody and the dramatic nature of the text, as if it was born from one of Martin Brest masterpieces. The eponymous track completely describes Her's message as a band, ultimately it all comes down to feelings for a woman. At the end of the EP you will hear a gentle "Union" that has become a tempting knot of the whole plate, or a cherry on the cake, as you like. In any case, this song is like a sparkling moon in a black sky after a beautiful long day. Slow and bewitching, a follower of hits from the world of blues and hip-hop 80's. From the record there is a very pleasant aftertaste, which, apparently, was noted by journalists from such publications as Gigwise, InRocKs, NME and NYLON, writing about Her debut pretty flattering reviews and including them in the list "Best new band for 2017".

Now they are called the protégé of Farrell Williams and The Weeknd, connoisseurs and followers of Kendrick Lamar and Jungle, inspired by the music of the 60's, revealing sensuality, sexuality and even eroticism on the sparkling edge of the crystal pedestal for themselves. Views of their clips and the number of plays on Soundcloud and Spotify have long exceeded the millions, they sounded in BBC Radio 1 programs and, finally, they are adored in the United Kingdom, where they returned more than once. Admittedly, the tour of the band resembles a cheerful marathon race, because from season to season they go on tour, covering new territories, from time to time flying across the ocean in order to flaunt their talent in the US. Very opportunely Europe sparkled summer festivals and Her quickly acquired an army of dedicated fans who appreciate the cosiness and style of modern Soul. France, Germany, Belgium and the autumn tour very soon received success, although it was joined by 7 American show. At the same time, the re-release of EP "Tape # 1 + Live" was held, to which a recording of the performance at the festival "Les inRocKs Festival 2016" was added. Continuing to tour Europe in the winter, getting on the list of musicians for every festival that was only possible, Her had time to record material for the next EP and sell out their shows until the last ticket.

Only on April 11, 2017 the band finally played its first headlining show in Paris, although it seems a bit insane when listing all their merits. Nevertheless, the summer schedule of festivals was supplemented by the festival "Lastochka" in Moscow, "Sziget" in Budapest, "Latitude" in Suffolk and "Electric Forest" in Michigan, USA. April 7, 2017 came out the second EP, which was named by analogy with the first "Tape # 2". "We had to complete this relationship story in our record and we did it." © Indeed, the second EP was the Siamese twin of the first, repeating his refined style and sensuality. "Intro" and "Interlude", an iridescent multi-stage "Blossom Roses", an incredibly stylish and integral R'n'B composition "Queens", "Jeanie J" suitable for a dance that will drive mad and, the final "Swim", with the right and a loud message, calling to go against the current. The release of EP "Tape # 2 + Live" was held on June 30, including recording of the performance from the band's first headline show in Paris.

Now Her is still on the road and ahead of them (scary to even think) 27 dates in central Europe. You could have missed them before, but now you just have to find your city on the list and put that day on your daily schedule, because these guys are without a doubt going to conquer the whole world. Думаю, мы бы не решились писать о них раньше, но раз нам посчастливилось увидеть их и проникнуться атмосферой, мы постараемся погрузить вас в сияющую мрачность Her Her - это музыкальный мужской дуэт с северо-запада Франции. Виктор Солф и Симон Карпентьер, которые до создания Her искали себя в Германии и США, в отличии от многих музыкантов даже имеют образование в консерватории (Виктор - клавиши, Симон - саксофон, впоследствии бас). Познакомившись в средней школе и объединив усилия по воплощению своей мечты, в 2007 они создали группу The Popopopops, которая была довольно успешным проектом во Франции на протяжении 6 лет. В своей любви к R'n'B и соулу, Виктор и Симон не испугались переплести все это с хип-хопом и джазом, добавив необходимой чувственности.

Her - это все о ней, кем бы они ни была. Очень органично в философию группы вплелась идея феминизма и равенства женщин, борьбы за современный мир. Her стали представителями Франции в международном проекте “HeForShe” (движение солидарности за равенство полов, созданное организацией «ООН-Женщины»). Даже если именно вам не близка эта тема, и вы не желаете иметь ничего общего с империей феминизма, в конце концов, речь идет о музыке. И может быть, именно музыка и есть та самая таинственная Женщина, Муза, вдохновляющая и преображающая смысл группы в громогласную оду эмоциям. Свой дебютный сингл "Quite Like", Her выпустили в цифровом формате на Soundcloud весной 2015, став приятной неожиданностью не только для будущих фанатов, но и для продюсеров. Со сдержанным ритмом, глубокой бас-гитарой и нежными клавишными переливами, эта песня приготовила для вас сюрприз в виде довольно эротичного текста. Весь трек полностью, словно полуобнаженная девушка за кружевной занавеской - будоражит воображение и манит перспективой продолжения. Песню отметили The Weeknd и Scott Vener, что довольно неожиданно для инди-новичков. Через пару месяцев, с выходом видео на первый сингл, Her подкрепили свой имидж сдержанных джентльменов, ценящих женскую чувственность.

Второй сингл только укрепил группу в позиции самых интересных дебютантов года. В первые осенние дни 2015 мир увидел трек "Five Minutes". Его лаунж звучание запоминается благодаря клацающим ударным и невероятному дуэту мужских голосов, которые будто звучат в ритуальном танце. Многообразие звуков в этом сингле как стробоскопы на дискотеке 90-х, где очень хочется успеть разглядеть каждую деталь. Этот трек заметили в компании Apple, реализовав в своем рекламном ролике. Пожалуй, самый лучший пиар, который группа только могла получить в начале своего пути. Пришло время визуализировать общий концепт группы, когда в середине осени Her объявили первые даты своих шоу, среди которых были Лондон, Кан, Нант и конечно, Ренн, родной город для музыкантов. В имидже появились костюмы благородных оттенков, рубашки с логотипами на рукавах и томные фотосессии, в которых буквально утопал взгляд. Группа зарекомендовала себя как истинных французов с безупречным английским, широкими улыбками и искренними лиричными текстами, отшлифованными бархатными мелодиями с острыми гранями. Это довольно мягко подвело их к выпуску дебютного EP - “Tape #1”, который появился на виниле в конце осени, а в цифровом формате только в начале января 2016. И в этом еще одна особенность группы, в то время как молодые исполнители стараются избегать физических носителей, Her с грациозностью королей решились сразу на виниловые пластинки. Этот ЕР включил в себя 6 песен, помимо знакомых нам "Quite Like" и "Five Minutes", в списке находится “Intro” и “Interlude”, в лучших традициях классических произведений. Также на пластинке блистает удивительная "Her", которая сводит с ума серьезностью мелодии и драматичностью текста, словно родилась из одного из шедевров Мартина Бреста. Одноименный трек вполне описывает посыл Her как группы, в конечном счете все сводится к чувствам к женщине. В окончании EP вы услышите нежную "Union", которая стала заманчивым узлом всей пластинки, или вишенкой на торте, как вам больше нравится. В любом случае, эта песня, как сверкающая луна в черном небе после прекрасного долгого дня. Медлительная и завораживающая, последовательница хитов из мира блюз и хип-хопа 80-х. От пластинки остается очень приятное послевкусие, которое видимо, отметили журналисты таких изданий как Gigwise, InRocKs, NME и NYLON, написав о дебюте Her довольно лестные отзывы и включив их в список "Best new band for 2017". Надо признать, гастроли группы напоминают веселый марафонский забег, потому что из сезона в сезон они отправляются в тур, охватывая новые территории, время от времени перелетая океан для того, чтобы блеснуть своим талантом в Штатах. Очень кстати Европа засверкала летними фестивалями и Her быстро обзавелись армией преданных фанатов, ценящих уют и стиль современного соула. Франция, Германия, Бельгия и осенний тур очень скоро получил успешность, хотя к нему присоединились 7 американских концертов. Тогда же состоялся перевыпуск ЕР “Tape #1 + Live”, к которому добавили запись выступления на фестивале “Les inRocKs Festival 2016”. Продолжая гастролировать по Европе зимой , попадая в список музыкантов для каждого фестиваля, который только был возможен, Her успевали записывать материал для следующего ЕР и распродавать свои шоу до последнего билета. Только 11 апреля 2017 группа, наконец, сыграла свое первое хедлайн шоу в Париже, хотя это кажется немного безумным при перечислении всех их заслуг.
